Tatiana Pongiluppi
Tati is a passionate biologist and ornithologist. She earned her master’s degree in Biodiversity in Protected Areas and dedicated her first ten years as a biologist to bird conservation in Brazil, working on various projects with SAVE Brasil, a BirdLife partner. Her love for exploration, birds, and connecting with people led her to join forces with Ciro and Caio to co-found Brazil Birding Experts.
Tati guides birding tours in the Southeast, Northeast, and Pantanal regions. Today, she also manages Brazil Birding Experts, ensuring every detail is perfect to provide the best possible experience for everyone traveling with BBE.
Tati loves being in nature, traveling, and, of course, birding!

7 days on the road with some of the best scenery and Psittaciformes Brazil has to offer. It's obvious that Tatiana Pongiluppi knows the southeast and its magnificent birds as the back of her hand. She's a skilled guide and fun to travel with. I loved every single moment of our trip ! Too bad it was so short but that's the best excuse to return soon.

This was one of the best birding tours I have been on and I have birded in 21 countries. Tati was one of the best guides I have ever had. She has excellent communication skills, she had planned well for our trip and most importantly she cared about us seeing the birds and had great patience with us. Her sense of humor and positive outlook made the trip most enjoyable. At all times during the tour she was there to help us find the birds, stop when we needed, helped with meals and interpreting the language and great suggestions for free time as well as being flexible with our schedule as needed. For example the owner of the hotel we stayed at offered to drive us up to a mountain top to a spot few people get to and Tati asked if we wanted to do this and explained how the diversion would affect our schedule and timing. We were all game to go and she was happy to oblige and then kept us on schedule. This entire trip was a memory all of us will cherish for a long time. Great birding, great places, great guide!

I was on the 23-day Northeast Brazil tour with four other birders from January 20 to February 11, 2019, and what a fantastic experience! Our guides, Caio and Tati, were enthusiastic, energetic, and knowledgeable. I was hesitant about joining this tour because of its length and long car rides; however, every day was so exciting and different, and the drives made comfortable with interesting scenery and stops, including at local eateries and fruit stands. A truly memorable trip!

Tati led this tour exceptionally, despite it being her first solo. As a seasoned traveler, I can confidently say she’s one of the best guides I’ve had—knowledgeable, enthusiastic, caring, and thoroughly professional. From planning our itinerary to accommodate both target species and budget constraints, to meeting us with a smile and seeing us off 35 days later, she was fully dedicated to our experience.
Tati’s exceptional field skills stood out—her keen hearing impressed even local guides, and she expertly identified bird calls I couldn’t hear. Her logistical expertise was equally remarkable, ensuring smooth hotel bookings, park access, and local guide coordination. Even when faced with challenges, like a car breakdown, she handled everything seamlessly.
Driving nearly 10,000 km safely in 35 days, Tati was always punctual, cheerful, and ready. She chose great accommodations, local restaurants, and ensured my non-birding wife felt included. Her humor, excellent English, and warm personality turned her from a guide into a friend.
Of the 250 target species, I expected 80% to be ambitious—but Tati got us 202! Fantastic work. We wish her the best and hope to travel with her again.

our tour was incredibly successful - c attached list of birds we encountered.
add to this an amazing quality of obs. esp. regarding rails/crakes (e.g. Ocellated with chix), some very very rare spec. like blue-eyed ground dove calling endlessly like a machine a mere 2m away, below eye level, Forbes' blackbird, close-up sao paulo antwrens +++
I had not expected it would be possible for me to c >100 new spec. in 29 days, without a flight within those days. AND: I had been to SE Brazil in 2009, though mainly not in the same spots!!!
Tati had prepared this tour meticuously, having made notes for each location and its potential lifers for each, pirjo and me and karen.
I must admit, birds and viewing quality were so many + overwhelming, that I voted Maned Wolf as my bird of the trip. which may sound ungrateful, but is not.
I can very very highly recommend Tati as your guide to SE Brazil; unfortunately she does not guide other parts of brazil - so far. but I've heard only very good about BBE's tours/guides to other parts of brazil. they prefer small groups, which is most convenient regarding space in the vehicles - we had a Duster, which P. & I found the perfect vehicle for the tour. by the way, Tati is an excellent driver, too.

If you want to see the birds of Brazil you deserve to go with the best, Brazil Birding Experts. While on the NE Brazil tour Tatiana Pongiluppi was absolutely the best guide I have ever had. Not only did she make sure my first trip after knee surgery was comfortable, she produced all the birds I had hoped for and more. On my extension to Intervales, Felipe kept finding new birds all day, every day including two unexpected lifers on the road leaving the park on our way to the airport.
